Pranged your car and not sure where to start? At CF3 MOT & Service Centre in Rumney, our in-house bodyshop puts accident-damaged cars back to how they should look and drive, from a kerbed bumper to full panel and paint work. We handle the repair and the mechanical side under one roof, so a knock that bent more than metal gets sorted in one place.
Whether it was a low-speed shunt on Newport Road or a car park scrape, this page explains what we fix, how colour matching works, and how the process runs.
What accident damage do you repair?
We cover the full range of impact and cosmetic damage:
-
Dents, scuffs and scratches, from car park knocks to trolley damage
-
Bumper damage, cracks and scrapes, repaired or replaced
-
Panel damage and alignment after a collision
-
Full and partial resprays with colour matched to your car
-
Crash damage that also affects the structure or mechanicals
Where an impact has done more than dent a panel, we deal with that too. Corrosion or structural damage exposed by a knock goes to our welding bay, and anything affecting how the car drives is checked by our mechanical repair team before it goes back to you.
How does colour matching work?
Modern paint is rarely a single flat colour, so a good match is what separates a proper repair from an obvious one. We identify your exact paint code, mix to it, and blend into the surrounding panels so the repair disappears rather than sitting slightly off against the rest of the car. Done properly, you should not be able to see where the work was carried out.
Do I have to use my insurer's approved repairer?
No, and this is worth knowing. If the damage is going through insurance, you are generally free to choose who repairs your car rather than being pushed to the insurer's own network. If the accident was not your fault, you can often have the repair done at the garage you trust while the claim is handled. Keep any details of the incident and the other party, and we can talk you through where a bodywork repair fits alongside a claim.
Repair or replace the panel?
It comes down to the damage. A shallow dent or a scuffed bumper is usually repaired, which is quicker and cheaper and keeps the original panel on the car. Heavier damage, a torn panel or a badly creased wing, is often better replaced for a proper finish. We will tell you honestly which makes sense for your car rather than defaulting to the dearer option, and put both in front of you where it is a genuine choice.
How long will my car be off the road?
It depends on the size of the job and whether parts or paint need to come in. A small dent or a bumper scuff can be a quick turnaround, while full panel and respray work takes longer to do properly and let the paint cure. We will give you a realistic timeframe up front, and if you need to stay mobile while the car is with us, ask about a courtesy car or collection and delivery.
Local bodywork you can walk in and see
Our bodyshop is at Unit 4C, Wentloog Buildings, Wentloog Road, Rumney, and we look after drivers across Rumney, Llanrumney, St Mellons, Trowbridge and the wider Cardiff area. Because we are local and independent, you can drop in, show us the damage, and get an honest opinion and a quote in person rather than dealing with a faceless call centre.
Bodywork repair questions.
Can you give me a quote for bodywork repair?
Yes. Bring the car in or send us photos and we will give you a quote. For accident damage we will talk you through repair versus replacement and, if relevant, how it fits with an insurance claim.
Will the repaired paint match the rest of my car?
That is the aim. We identify your paint code, mix to it and blend into the surrounding panels so the repair is not visible against the original finish.
Do I have to claim on insurance for a small repair?
Not at all. For minor dents and scuffs, many drivers pay directly because it is quick and avoids affecting their no-claims. We are happy either way and will give you the cost so you can decide.
Can you repair crash damage that affects how the car drives?
Yes. As a full workshop we check the mechanical and structural side after an impact, not just the panels, so the car is safe as well as looking right.
How soon can you look at my car?
Usually quickly. Call us with a rough description of the damage and we will arrange a time to assess it and quote the work.
